Air conditioning service
in Málaga.
A serviced air conditioner cools better, uses less electricity, lasts longer and does not break down in July. A real service is not a wipe of the filters: it is coils, drain, pressures, electrics and a technician who knows what salt air does to a machine. Our own technicians, Samsung Certified, across Málaga and the Costa del Sol since 2010.

The sea is beautiful. Your outdoor unit disagrees.
Anywhere on the Costa del Sol the air is full of salt, and salt is patient. It settles on the outdoor coil, it creeps into the electrical connections, it eats the brackets and the screws. Add the dust from the campo in summer, the humidity in September and a flat that is closed up for months at a time, and you have a machine that is working harder every year while you notice nothing until the day it stops.
That is what an air conditioning service in Málaga is for. Not a quick look and a squirt of spray, but the outdoor coil cleaned properly, the indoor coil and fan cleaned, the condensate drain flushed and tested with water, the refrigerant pressures and temperatures checked so a slow leak is caught while it is small, the electrical connections tightened, the mountings checked for corrosion. Done once a year, a system lasts years longer and costs less to run every month in between.
You can book that as a one-off. Or you can join ITAFE PRO and have it done every year, automatically, by a technician who already knows your home, with priority assistance if anything goes wrong in between. Most of our customers move to the second option after their first service. This page explains both. If you are still choosing a system, start with air conditioning in Málaga.
- Outdoor and indoor coils cleaned, not just filters
- Condensate drain flushed and tested with water
- Refrigerant pressures and temperatures checked
- Written report of what was found and what to watch
Your air conditioning, looked after all year.
Installing or repairing it is day one. What keeps it running, and stops it letting you down in the middle of August, is what happens next. That is what ITAFE PRO is for: one monthly fee and we take care of it, even while you are away.
- Scheduled servicing: we remind you, not the other way round
- Call-out and diagnosis at €0, always
- Priority visit within 48 working hours
- One of our own technicians on your WhatsApp
- 10% member discount on labour, parts and gas
- No minimum term
Got solar panels too, or want your electrics looked after? Add them: two modules and your fee drops by 10%, three and it drops by 15%.

The indoor unit
Filters out and washed, yes, but that is the bit you can do yourself. The service is what is behind them: the evaporator coil, where dust and moisture turn into a grey felt that blocks the airflow and grows mould, and the fan drum, which collects the same felt and throws it into the room every time you switch on. Both cleaned and treated. The drain tray cleaned. The louvres, sensors and remote checked. If the unit smelled of damp when you turned it on in May, this is why, and this is the fix.
The outdoor unit
This is where the coast makes the difference. The condenser coil has to throw the heat from your home into the outside air, and it cannot do that through a layer of salt, dust and pollen. We clean it with the right products, not a pressure washer that folds the fins. We check the fan, the motor bearings, the panels and the mounting bracket, which on a beachfront terrace can rust through in a few years. We check that nothing has been stacked against it and that it can still breathe.
The refrigerant circuit
Pressures and temperatures on both sides, compared with what the manufacturer says they should be for the conditions on the day. This is the part that tells us whether the system has a slow leak long before it stops cooling. If the readings are low we do not top it up and move on; we tell you, and we find the leak, as explained on our air conditioning repair page. Refrigerant is handled only by certified staff, as the law requires.
Electrics and drainage
Connections tightened, because vibration and salt loosen them and a loose connection is how boards and compressors die. Capacitors checked. Current draw measured against the plate. Then the condensate drain flushed through and tested with water, because a blocked drain in August is the single most common reason we get called to a flat with water running down the wall. Finally the system is run in both modes and the readings go on a report you keep.
- Coils cleaned inside and out, fan drum and drain tray included
- Refrigerant pressures and temperatures logged, leak flagged early
- Electrical connections tightened, capacitors and current draw checked
- Drain flushed and tested with water, mountings checked for corrosion
- Short written report: what we found, what we did, what to watch
The maths of skipping a service by the sea.
Once a year, minimum
Inland or in a sheltered flat, one full service a year before the summer keeps a system healthy. That is the PRO Clima Esencial rhythm.
Twice a year on the coast
Within a few streets of the beach, or if you heat with it in winter too, two visits a year: one before summer, one before winter. That is PRO Clima Total.
Skip it: higher bills
A dirty coil makes the compressor work longer for the same cold. You pay for that every month, silently, on the electricity bill.
Skip it twice: repairs
Loose connections, blocked drains and slow leaks do not fix themselves. They wait for the first heatwave and then they all arrive at once.
You are not here. The salt air is.
A holiday home on the Costa del Sol has the worst possible life for an air conditioner: months closed up with the humidity doing its work on the indoor coil, then a summer of guests running it at 18 degrees with the terrace door open. Owners who live abroad find out it is broken from a guest's review, on a Saturday, in August.
This is exactly what ITAFE PRO was built for. We service the system before the season on a date that suits your calendar, you get the report by email wherever you are, and if a guest reports a problem you have a technician who already knows the flat and the keys situation, with priority assistance in under 48 working hours. For a rental, that is the difference between a refund and a good review.
- Pre-season service scheduled around your bookings
- Report by email, wherever you are
- Priority assistance for your guests through ITAFE PRO
- Works with your keyholder or property manager
Every part of the system checked, and a report you can read.
Booked around you, done by our own technicians, documented properly.

Tell us how many units, where they are and when suits. Before May is ideal on the coast; we tell you honestly how the diary looks.
2 · Indoor units
Filters, coil, fan drum, drain tray and drain line cleaned and treated. Controls and sensors checked.
3 · Outdoor unit
Condenser coil cleaned, fan and motor checked, mountings and panels inspected for salt corrosion, airflow around the unit checked.
4 · Circuit and electrics
Refrigerant pressures and temperatures logged, connections tightened, current measured, drain tested with water, system run in both modes.
5 · Report and next date
You get a short written report: what we found, what we did, what to keep an eye on. ITAFE PRO members get the next visit in the diary automatically.

Three visits, three things caught in time.
The mould the guests would have smelled first
Illustrative example. A rental flat closed from October to May. The pre-season service found both indoor coils and drain trays black with mould and one drain line fully blocked. Cleaned, treated and flushed two weeks before the first booking. The owner, who lives abroad, got the report by email and moved to PRO Clima Esencial.
The slow leak that was only a number
Illustrative example. A ducted system that was cooling fine. The pressure readings at the annual service were a little lower than the previous year's report. Leak test found a weeping joint at the outdoor unit. Repaired and pressure-tested before the summer, when it would have become a warm house and an emergency call.
The bracket that was nearly not there
Illustrative example. An outdoor unit on a wall bracket facing the sea. At the second PRO Clima Total visit of the year the technician found the bracket rusted through on one side. Replaced with a stainless one the following week under the member discount. The alternative was the unit on the patio below.

How often should air conditioning be serviced in Málaga?
At least once a year, before the summer. If you live within a few streets of the sea, use the system for heating in winter as well, or run a holiday let, twice a year is the right rhythm: once before summer and once before winter. That is why ITAFE PRO has two levels: Clima Esencial with one visit and Clima Total with two.
What does an air conditioning service include?
A real one: indoor coil, fan drum, filters and drain tray cleaned and treated; outdoor condenser coil cleaned and fan and mountings checked; refrigerant pressures and temperatures logged; electrical connections tightened and current measured; drain flushed and tested with water; system run in both modes; and a short written report. If someone offers a service that takes ten minutes, that is a filter wipe.
What happens if I never service my air conditioning?
It keeps working, and that is the problem: you do not notice it using more electricity every month, or the drain slowly blocking, or the pressure slowly dropping. Then one hot week in July it stops, often with a fault that a service would have caught for a fraction of the cost. On the coast, an unserviced outdoor unit also corrodes faster than one that is cleaned.
Can I just clean the filters myself?
Yes, and you should, every month or two in summer. Slide them out, wash them in lukewarm water, let them dry and put them back. It helps. But it does not reach the coil behind them, the fan drum, the drain or the outdoor unit, and it tells you nothing about the refrigerant or the electrics. Filters are your job. The rest is the service.
I live abroad. How does the service work for my holiday home?
You give us a date range and a way in: a keyholder, a property manager or a lockbox. We service the system, send you the report by email and let you know if anything needs attention. As an ITAFE PRO member the pre-season visit goes in the diary automatically and your guests have priority assistance if something goes wrong while you are away.
Is ITAFE PRO a maintenance contract?
It is a monthly membership, and you can see everything it includes on the ITAFE PRO page. The annual service is in it, but so are priority assistance in under 48 working hours, call-out and diagnosis at €0 whenever you need us, a 10 % member discount on parts and equipment, ITAFE Points and no minimum term. From less than a euro a day.
