The east side of Málaga has grown up.
Rincón de la Victoria used to be where Málaga went for the weekend. Now it is where a lot of Málaga lives: families who wanted a house with a garden and a school nearby, retirees who wanted the sea without the crowds of the western coast, and people from the rest of Europe who found the Axarquía quieter and greener than anything past Torremolinos. The town has filled with new-build townhouses and apartment blocks in Torre de Benagalbón, Añoreta and Cotomar, alongside the older flats of Rincón centre and La Cala del Moral.
That mix is exactly what we design air conditioning for. A new townhouse usually comes with a pre-installation for ducted air conditioning that the developer left unfinished; it needs the right indoor unit, properly balanced ducts and zone control, not whichever machine happens to fit the hole. Torre de Benagalbón, Añoreta and Cotomar · the new builds
This is where most of the town's growth has gone: townhouses and low blocks built in the last twenty years, many with a ducted pre-installation. A pre-installation is a promise, not a system: the developer runs the ductwork and leaves a space for the indoor unit, and it is up to the owner to finish it. Done badly, you get one freezing room and one that never cools, a unit that is too big for the house and grilles that whistle. Done properly, you get a whole house cooled and heated with nothing on the walls and each zone at its own temperature. We finish pre-installations properly, and we tell you honestly when the developer's ductwork needs correcting first.
La Cala del Moral and Rincón centre · flats by the sea
The older part of the town, with apartment blocks along the paseo and the streets behind it. Salt air is the issue here, as it is anywhere on the coast: outdoor units on sea-facing balconies corrode, brackets rust and coils lose their cooling under a crust of salt. For these flats we place the outdoor unit for the salt air as much as for the airflow, use corrosion-resistant brackets, and recommend two services a year rather than one. Many owners here are retirees who use the system for heating in winter as much as cooling in summer, which makes a modern Inverter heat pump a genuine saving over the old cooling-only units and electric radiators.
Benagalbón and the hills · houses with roofs
Inland from the coast the town turns into detached houses and villas with gardens, roofs and views. This is where air conditioning and solar belong together. A house here runs its air conditioning hardest in the exact hours its roof produces the most, so we design the two as one system: a ducted or multi-split installation sized to run on the house's own production, and panels sized for the house's real consumption rather than a brochure figure. The pre-installation that was only half a promise
Illustrative example. A young family bought a new townhouse with a ducted pre-installation. The developer's ducts were unbalanced and the return was undersized. We corrected the return, balanced the runs, fitted a properly sized Inverter indoor unit and added zone control so the children's rooms run independently at night. The family joined PRO Clima Total.
Warm in January, for a change
Illustrative example. A retired couple in a flat on the paseo with an old cooling-only unit and electric radiators for winter. Air conditioning in Rincón de la Victoria: what people ask us.
My new house has a pre-installation for air conditioning. What do I need to finish it?
An indoor unit sized for the house, an outdoor unit, the connection to the existing ducts, and a zone controller if you want each room at its own temperature. Before any of that, we check the developer's ductwork: undersized returns and unbalanced runs are common in new builds around Rincón and they are much easier to fix before the unit goes in. Site visit and quote are no-obligation.
Can the same system heat the house in winter?
Yes. Every Inverter system we install is a heat pump. In Rincón's climate it is the most efficient way to heat a home and it is a genuine saving over electric radiators, which is why so many retirees on the coast replace their old cooling-only units even when they still work. Ducted, multi-split or single split, they all heat as well as cool.
Does it make sense to install solar at the same time as the air conditioning?
If you have a roof, usually yes. The two are sized together, the panels for the real consumption and the air conditioning to run efficiently on that production. One visit, one design, one quote. Afterwards, ITAFE PRO Clima and PRO Solar together look after both, with two modules taking 10 % off the membership. For a flat, it depends on the community; ask us.
How often should I service air conditioning near the sea in La Cala del Moral?
Twice a year if the outdoor unit faces the sea: once before summer, once before winter. Salt air corrodes coils and brackets faster than anything else on the coast.
